final

For my final I chose to make my prompt life imitates art. I thought of this concept by taking a picture of my friends mimicking pictures of sculptures, which became my inspiration for this series. For me this prompt shows how people can connect with art even though it might not be something they would normally imagine. It can be hard to connect with religious figures, angels in graveyards, or very old hands but I explored how people can step into the role. No longer are they just an observer of art, they experience it themselves. I think that these photos show me as an artist because I do not stick to one specific style, I gravitate to what I like to see. In this series you see a heavily contrasted and dark picture, but later see brighter and happier images with less contrast. ISO 100   f/5.6   1/100sec My quote is "Life is tough, my darling, but so are you" by Stephanie Bennett-Henry. This quote with this pose is trying to show that life is not always fair and easy. A lot of times you have to fight very hard to survive in this world. But, I chose this because sometimes I need to remind myself of how strong I am.

am i talking to myself?

AFTER: ISO 400   f/3.5   1/100sec BEFORE: I choose to use bounce lighting from a flash attached to my camera. It was angled at 35 degrees and the flash was 1/16. At first it was only lighting half of the image which made it look unbalanced so I turned on the light at his work bench. I chose bounce light because I didn't want it to be too harsh and I wanted it to be natural looking light. But it was hard because the wood in my dad's garage is a orangey color so it made the lighting orange which I edited in post.
