Through the Eyes of a Child
Before

After

1. What object did you choose to photograph and why?
I chose to photograph my dad playing basketball because when I was younger I used to always play ball with him when I played. This was a very childhood memory for me because I always thought he was really good at basketball and wished one day I would be as good as him. And almost every time he would beat me in the games we would play. It is also important to me because this park is a block away from my house so we could walk and there is never many people there so we could practice in peace.
2. What compositional element(s) did you choose? How did the compositional element(s) add to the meaning or purpose of the photograph?
I chose to use symmetry because it puts the focus on the middle of the picture which is my dad shooting a basketball.
3. Do you think you were successful in translating your thoughts into a visual form? what aspects of the photograph lead you to this conclusion?
I think that this shows my idea that the picture was a distant memory (which is why its kind of dark) and that he looks taller than me and that I am looking up at him literally and figuratively. But, I think I could have done a better job of making the lighting better.
4. What would you do differently if you did it again?/What would make it better?
If I did this again I would do it at a different time of day so that my dad would not be backlit and then I could have made him the center focus of the photo more, not as much the trees.
