still life self portrait

Before:
After:
1. What exposure settings did you use for this photo?
ISO 3200   f/4.0   1/250sec
2. How do these objects represent you today?
The first object I chose was two of my journals of pediatrics (with my suturing supplies) which represents the part of me that loves medicine because I want to be a doctor when I'm older and to me working on my suturing techniques and reading medical journals such as these help me feel like I'm getting closer to my goals. I have a pumpkin toy because Halloween is my favorite holiday. I have a pair of Disney ears because I love Disneyland. I have candy in the photo because candy is great. Lastly, I have a lacrosse ball and a field hockey ball because I love playing field hockey and lacrosse.
3. What is the best aspect/What do you like best about your image?
The part I like best about the photo is the colors of the items I chose.
4. List at least two compositional elements that you used and why?
The compositional elements I chose were rule of thirds and texture. The medical journals were the most in the rule of thirds because it is something really important in my life. In the photo there are unique textures that are present such as the rough field hockey ball, the smoothness of the wood in the background, and the fuzziness of the pumpkin toy.
5. What lighting source did you choose and why? How does it affect the mood/meaning of the image?
I took this photo outside and the lighting was cloudy and smokey from the fires. It helped make the photo have neutral lighting.
6. What could you improve upon?
If I took this again I would have added a camera lens or something to represent my photography because it is something important to me and I completely forgot to add it. I also would have shot the photo on a background that was lighter because I felt that the wood was too dark and made the photo appear darker than it was.
7. Ten years from now do you think you will choose the same objects? Why or why not?
Ten years from now I do not think I would choose the same objects to represent my personality because I know that ten years ago I was a very different person, so if my personality hasn't changed considerably by then I would be concerned.
