Through the Eyes of a Child

Image
Before After 1. What object did you choose to photograph and why? I chose to photograph my dad playing basketball because when I was younger I used to always play ball with him when I played. This was a very childhood memory for me because I always thought he was really good at basketball and wished one day I would be as good as him. And almost every time he would beat me in the games we would play. It is also important to me because this park is a block away from my house so we could walk and there is never many people there so we could practice in peace. 2. What compositional element(s) did you choose? How did the compositional element(s) add to the meaning or purpose of the photograph? I chose to use symmetry because it puts the focus on the middle of the picture which is my dad shooting a basketball. 3. Do you think you were successful in translating your thoughts into a visual form? what aspects of the photograph lead you to this conclusion? I think that this shows my ...

In relation to exposure, the slower the shutter speed, the darker the photo would be because there was less time for light to be exposed to the camera. When the shutter speed was slower the picture was brighter because there was more light exposed to the camera for longer.

Meaningful Object

Image
Before: After: What object did you choose to photograph and why? I chose to photograph my bike as my meaningful object because I got my bike last summer in Santa Cruz on a spontaneous trip with my mom. The bike has ever since been something meaningful in my life and brings back good memories. Do you think you were successful in translating your thought into a visual form? What aspects of the photograph lead you to this conclusion? What I wanted to capture with this photo was a feeling of nostalgia that I tried to capture by placing the bike in the street and showing the houses and the sidewalk behind it because to me, I always  associate riding my bike with something very special and memorable in my childhood.  What compositional element(s) did you choose? How did the compositional element(s) add to the meaning or purpose of the photograph? The compositional elements I chose were balancing elements and rule of thirds. In the original photograph the...
